Angler Profile

Maggie was born and raised in central Wisconsin, into a family who loves the outdoors. From a young age, she always enjoyed hunting and fishing with her father. It wasn’t until she went to college at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point that she was introduced to ice fishing by friends. Maggie has been hooked ever since! Wisconsin winters used to feel long and brutal to her while waiting for the return of her true passion, bass fishing. Thankfully, her love for ice fishing has given her a whole new appreciation of the cold weather and allows her to fish all year long. When she’s not fishing, Maggie also enjoys bow hunting, waterfowl hunting, and many other outdoor activities. She loves learning and trying new things. Maggie shares her adventures on her Instagram page maggiejo_outdoors in hopes of encouraging more women to get outdoors, so follow along and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions! She created a very interactive space for her audience and is always eager to help.

Some of Maggie’s favorite fish to target through the ice are Perch, Walleye, Bluegill, and Crappie. However, she loves learning how to target new species. Last season she targeted Burbot for the first time, and this season she hopes to catch her first Lake Trout through the ice!
