Even familiar waters force you to fish like a visitor when you haven't been there for a spell. Rapala Pro Peter Thliveros, who earned a berth in this month's Bassmaster Classic, lives less than an hour from the site of the recent Bassmaster Southern Open. But because of his hectic tournament schedule, "...I'm lucky if I get to fish it once or twice a year," he points out.
The tourney was held on a stretch of the St. John's River near Peter T's Florida home. But because he hadn't fished it seriously for a long time, the touring pro wisely used a searching approach, featuring Rattlin' Rapalas, to hunt for bass.
In the end, his strategy paid off in a big win! Talk about being on a competitive roll to start the season... You can watch Peter T in the Bassmaster Classic, Feb 22-24, on ESPN2.
